About us

The Department  of Adult Spine Orthopedics was established in 2020 as a result of the transformation of the Spondyloorthopedics and Spine Biomechanics Department.

It was grounded in 2013 by

prof. Andrzej Nowakowski, an enthusiast of orthopedics, especially issues related to the etiology and treatment of spine diseases.

Our team conduct classes in the field of orthopedics and spondyloorthopedics and trauma for students of the Poznań University of Medical Science in programs od medicine and physiotherapy.

 

The Department also conducts research in the field of:

  • morphological changes in the course of degenerative spine disease

  • biomechanical evaluation of spine implants,

  • concentration of trace elements in the motion system,

The Department of Adult Spine Orthopedics evolved in 2020 from the Department of Spondyloorthopedics and Biomechanics of the Spine.

Initially established in 2013 by prof. Andrzej Nowakowski, an orthopaedic surgeon devoted to spine issues.
We conduct classes in orthopaedics and spondyloorthopaedics for Physiotherapy and Emergency Medicine students of the Faculty of Health Sciences as well as spine surgery classes for Medical Students of Poznań University of Medical Sciences.
